BUFFALO, NY – Everyone’s favorite rat in wrestling, MJF, returned at AEW All Out in the Casino Ladder Match, winning the opportunity to challenge for the AEW World Championship. MJF made his first Dynamite appearance after his return, addressing his plans to win the championship.
A Glimmer of Hope
In a change of pace from his non-Long Island crowd interactions, MJF blows kisses to the crowd and leans on them in a way that reminds audiences of CM Punk. In a Josh Allen jersey, MJF praises Buffalo.
MJF starts to discuss the vacated AEW World Championship, talking about how he won’t be participating in the Tournament of Champions concluding on Dynamite at Grand Slam, Sept. 21 because,
“I’m all about working smart, not hard, Buffalo. So, I’m not going to do that tournament. Do you know why? Because I got a chip that guarantees me a title shot any damn time I want.”
He rallies the crowd, promising to be the leader that AEW needs,
“If there’s one thing I know to be true, it’s that right now, you might think we’re in dark times. but we’re not. What we need is leadership, and I cannot think of one more person more trustworthy.”
Back to the Regularly Scheduled MJF
When comparing himself to Moses, a glimpse of the MJF crowds have known and loved to hate starts to reappear,
“I’m not telling you I’m Moses. That’s ridiculous. I’m better than Moses! I’m gonna win that world title because my name is Maxwell Jacob Friedman, and I’m better than you.”
Leaving the crowd to finish the rest of his line, MJF is cut off by “Wild Thing” as Jon Moxley enters the ring to tell MJF he is “absolutely full of crap.”
At this, MJF is finally back as he drops the babyface act to diss Buffalo, their football team, and the audience before he sets his sights on Moxley.
Maybe Jon Moxley Has A Point
“Now Jon, I don’t know if you’re a little bit woozy considering you went to sleep on Sunday,” MJF says while miming Punk’s Go To Sleep, “but maybe you got a point.”
MJF begins listing maybes, ”Maybe I don’t care about AEW. Maybe I don’t care about these people. Maybe, just maybe, I look at the world title as nothing more than a bargaining chip that I can use for the bidding war of 2024. Maybe I take that title to a real wrestling company. With real fans. And real wrestlers like my friend and hero, the American Rollercodester Cody Rhodes.”
After feeling like MJF has gone on for long enough, Moxley stops him. Saying, “This is not the time. And this is not the place. And I am in no mood. You need to leave this ring right now, or I will make you leave.”
At this point, both men start preparing to fight. But, of course, before anything really happens, MJF scurries out of the ring before Moxley proves why he’s the real leader AEW needs.
This interaction between MJF and Moxley may lead to the AEW World Championship match MJF has been waiting for. After losing to Moxley at All Out 2020 because of Moxley’s “illegal” Paradigm Shift, MJF has never had another opportunity at the title. With the chip from the Casino Ladder Match and Moxley in the AEW World Championship Tournament, MJF may have the perfect chance to take the championship from Moxley the way he wanted years ago.
