Team Sizzle (Minnesota) defeated Ypsilanti Prep (Michigan) 78-71 in the High School Showcase

Emoni Bates (Michigan) faced off against Chet Holmgren (Minnesota) in Ann Arbor Thursday night. The two future NBA stars were nothing short of amazing in the ESPN broadcasted HS showdown. Holmgren finished with 31 points, 12 rebounds, and six blocks, while Bates had 36 points and 10 rebounds with his new team.

The game was competitive and close, with Team Sizzle taking a 31-30 lead at halftime. The difference came in the third quarter, where Holmgren scored 11 points to put his team ahead 54-50 heading into the fourth. Holmgren shot 13- for-18 and went 2-for-5 from deep.

Bates shot 11-for-22 from the field and went 4-for-11 from the three-point line hitting back to back 3s in the third, which gave him 28 points going into the fourth quarter.

Both Bates (2022) & Holmgren (2021) are the No. 1- ranked players per ESPN in their class, and that’s exactly how they played in the head to head matchup.
