Minneapolis, MN – Continuing the non-stop action from Dynamite, Rampage’s “Quake By The Lake” sees Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo’s first AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship defense against Dante Martin and Skye Blue. With Beardhausen, Sonny Kiss and Orange Cassidy, the rest of the night is sure to be popular among fans.
As much action as there was tonight, there was a vital setup for Dynamite. Bryan Danielson and Daniel Garcia’s interaction in the ring revealed what fans watching have been seeing in Garcia, and that’s the fact that he would be a perfect fit in the Blackpool Combat Club. In the two out of three falls match Wednesday, Garcia decides whether he wants to stay a sports entertainer or lean into his technical wrestling ability.
Sammy Guevara and Tay Melo (C) vs. Dante Martin and Skye Blue – AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship Match
These teams go right for each other when the bell rings. Martin and Guevara pick up right where they left off as they brawl in the ring, while Melo and Blue take their fight outside. Martin quickly takes Guevara to the ground, landing punch after punch. Stopping Martin from keeping control of the match, Melo tags herself in.
Blue lands a cross body, but Melo doesn’t stay down for long. Melo got a solid hold on her with a crossface, transitioning into a cradle for a two count. When Blue comes at Melo with a step-up knee strike and an enziguiri, Guevara trips her, allowing Melo to build up a solid offense until Blue makes the tag to Martin.
Martin hits Guevara with a double leg takedown before dropkicking him outside the ring. After Martin takes Guevara out with a tope suicida, Melo grabs his ankle. Taking her into the ring, Martin uses her as a springboard to land a cutter destroyer on Guevara, but Guevara kicks out at two.
Blue tags in to get the job done, but Melo goes right for Martin with a tilt-a-whirl DDT. Off the top rope, Blue responds with a hurricanrana to Guevara. With a trust-kick and a TayKO, Melo picks up the win, retaining the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championships in their first title defense.
Sonny Kiss vs. Parker Boudreaux
In her first television match in a while, Kiss had a lot on the line as she was being scouted to join the Trustbusters by Aria Daivari. The match is off to a strong start as Boudreaux flattens Kiss immediately. After being hit with right after right in the corner, Kiss tries to change the momentum of the match with an uppercut but instead is hit with a chokeslam. After a back suplex, Kiss is down for the count, giving the win to the newly #AllElite Parker Boudreaux.
Gunn Club vs. Beardhausen
Redbeard kicks off the match for Beardhausen, throwing Colten before Austin tags in and changes strategy. While trying to fake out Redbeard and catch him off guard, he is slammed to the ground and runs from the ring. Instructed to back in the ring, Austin doesn’t seem to have much of a chance until Danhausen tags in.
Attempting a curse, Austin stops Danhausen with a big right. Taking the fight to the corner, Danhausen locks in a Koji clutch through the ropes on Austin, being forced to break the hold. Austin makes the tag to Colten, and he comes right for Danhausen with a dropkick.
After Redbeard hits the Gunns with a double suplex, Danhausen tags back in, ready for a double team. However, Billy Gunn had a different idea as he pulled the ropes down, sending Redbeard outside the ring. This was just enough time for Austin to hit Danhausen with the Fameasser, for the win.
Orange Cassidy vs. Ari Daivari
Interrupting Cassidy putting his hands in his pockets, Daivari offers Cassidy a chance to join the Trustbusters if he just lays down and lets a three count happen. While Cassidy lies on the mat, he doesn’t let Daivari win. Instead, Cassidy rolls outside the ring. Daivari hits Cassidy with a neckbreaker on the middle rope, stopping him from gaining any more momentum.
Cassidy hits a diving crossbody, countering Daivari’s iconoclasm on the top rope. Daivari goes for a neckbreaker, but Orange was ready, and it doesn’t connect. Looking to end the match, Cassidy attempts an Orange Punch that Daivarii reverses for a two count.
Cassidy comes back with a tornado DDT into a diving DDT, pinning Daivari unsuccessfully. When Slim J goes to the apron as a distraction, the Best Friends interrupt him, giving Cassidy the chance to take out Boudreaux. Kicking out at two after an iconoclasm, Cassidy ducks Daivari, landing an Orange Punch for the win.
After the match, the Trustbusters attack the Best Friends. When Sonny Kiss runs to ring, it looks as though she’s there to help the Best Friends. However, it’s made clear she’s been recruited by the Trustbusters as she kicks Cassidy in the crotch.
The fallout from Rampage takes place in Charleston, WV, Wednesday night on Dynamite as Daniel Garcia takes on Bryan Danielson in a two out of three falls match and the Gunn Club against the Varsity Blonds.
