ST. LOUIS, MO- The St. Louis Blues have struggled as of late. Losing five of their past six games, the Blues have fallen out of a top-three spot in the Central Division and into a wild card slot.

On Monday, March 28 the slumping Blues welcomed the Vancouver Canucks to Enterprise Center.

Vladimir Tarasenko recorded two goals and an assist, achieving career point No. 500 as St. Louis defeated the Canucks 4-1.

St. Louis opened the game hot, jumping out to a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period. With goals by Marco Scandella (2) and David Perron (23), the Blues gained a much-needed advantage.

After a scoreless 2nd period, the Blues extended their lead to 3-0 following Vladimir Tarasenko’s (22) first score of the game. Vancouver responded with their lone goal of the night from Brad Hunt with 17:47 left in regulation.

An empty-net goal from Tarasenko (23) marked his 500th career point and a St. Louis win.

Lockdown in Net

St. Louis goalie Ville Husso displayed elite netminding in the Blues’ win. Husso made 31 saves while only allowing one goal.

Husso entered Monday with the No.7 save percentage in the NHL at .922%. Against the Canucks he improved on that number with a save percentage of .969%

The stellar performance earned him the game’s second star.

Perron Goal Streak

David Perron had been the Blues’ rock over the past seven games before their loss against Philadelphia on Thursday.

The St. Louis wing scored at least a goal in seven consecutive games. During that stretch, Perron scored 10 goals and had three assists.

Following the streak ending on Thursday, Perron got right back to work. Looking for a new streak, Perron scored a goal against Vancouver Monday night.

Perron’s 23rd goal of the season has him tied for No.1 amongst Blues skaters with Tarasenko.
