Las Vegas, NV –  UFC Fight Night 67 closed out with a Unanimous Decision win from Sean Strickland on a week’s notice over Nassourdine Imavov. Dan Ige snapped his three-fight losing streak with a left hook from hell that floored Damon Jackson among a lot more action. The results and takeaways are below.

Takeaways

  • Strickland can fight on a week’s notice and be an absolute monster. Guy has a winning style and fantastic fight prep.
  • Imavov needs to work on his striking if he wants to move up the ranks; he looked really stiff against Sean.
  • Umar Nurmagomedov deserves a top-five opponent. He handed Raoni Barcelos his first KO/TKO loss. Umar presents a striking threat that few have with such a wrestling-dominant background. He’s moving up in the bantamweight rankings.
  • Dan Ige has the touch of death. If he catches someone clean, they’re going out, no question. He’s due for a bounce-back year pending matchmaking.
  • Javid Basharat is going to be an issue; he needs a bit more work, but he has such crisp striking and he uses his range perfectly. He’ll be a perennial contender if he keeps it up.
  • Bantamweight is still far and away the deepest division, victories by Nurmagomedov and Basharat prove it.
  • Raquel Pennington is still an elite fighter and should rematch Irene Aldana as a title eliminator.
  • Damon Jackson is a great fighter, but his striking needs significant work if he wants to climb the ranks.
  • Kopylov is going through a career resurgence that few are able to achieve; he’s got back-to-back finish wins and should be someone to watch going forward.
  • Abdul Razak Alhassan has cinder blocks for hands, and he really doesn’t like Joaquin Buckley, as evidenced by his post-fight interview.
  • Mateus Mendoca will be ranked at some point despite the setback in losing his undefeated status. A bit more training at Chute Box to polish his game will show leaps and bounds.
  • Mateusz Rebecki is scary and if he works on his cardio, he’ll be a menace at lightweight.
  • Punahele Soriano can take an incredible amount of shots before going down Pokylov threw everything but the kitchen sink before that stoppage.
