GLENDALE, Ariz. —— Jared Goff had one of his best games of the season after being criticized by his coach. Completing 37 of 47 passes for 351 and a touchdown as the Los Angeles Rams (8-4) beat the Arizona Cardinals (6-6) 38-28.
“I responded exactly how I expected to,” Goff said. “I have been through a lot of bad things in my football career before, and I have consistently responded, and this was no different. I just had to keep my head down and keep working.”
Los Angeles held a 24 to 14 lead early in the fourth quarter and looked like they were going to pull it out until Nsimba Webster fumbled on a punt return. The Cardinals recovered at the LA 15-yard line scoring a 4-yard touchdown from Kenyan Drake, giving Arizona life now only trailing 24-21.
The Rams responded on their next drive, moving the ball down the field in a hurry as Darrell Henderson was untouched while running in for a 38-yard touchdown that pushed Los Angeles ahead 31-21. Goff played consistently throughout the fourth-quarter as he did much of the game, completing his passes and avoiding mistakes.
Arizona’s Kyler Murray completed 21 of 39 passes for 173 yards and three touchdowns. He also had a lost fumble midway through the fourth quarter and threw a pick-six to LA’s Troy Hill, who ran it back for a 35-yard return giving the Rams a 38-21 lead.
