PBC Press Conference – Wilder Vs Helenius

BROOKLYN, NY – The Barclays Center hosted a press conference for the Premier Boxing Champions event on August 30. The headliner being a huge main event as the former WBC heavyweight champion. Deontay “The Bronze Bomber” Wilder makes his much-awaited return as he squares off against Robert “The Nordic Nightmare” Helenius.” A fight between two of the most vicious punchers in the boxing world.

The co-main event will feature former IBF middleweight champion Caleb “Sweethands” Plant facing two-time WBC middleweight champion Anthony “The Dog” Dirrell.

The two exhilarating 12-round battles will take place Saturday, October 15, at the Barclays Center.

Wilder and Helenius – Heavy Hitters

Both Wilder and Helenius were live at the press conference via satellite.

Wilder will make his much-awaited return to the after 10 months. He holds a record of (42-2-1) and an impressive 41 wins by way of knockout. Helenius holds a record of (31-3-0). 20 wins by way of knockout.

Both fighters will add an element of excitement with the knockout power they possess. One of the greatest knockout artists in the world, Wilder looks to become a two-time world champion after his first reign that included ten title defenses. A feat that just seven heavyweights in boxing history have accomplished.

Helenius and Wilder have the utmost respect for each other. The two have been sparring partners for quite some time and have helped train each other for past fights, but the ramifications are different this time as both the power punchers look to deliver the big knockout blow to each other.

“Me and Robert have big hearts. We both come in with the mindset of winning,” Wilder on the motivation when it comes to training for his fight against Helenius.

“I have people on the edge of their seat,” Wilder on how people get excited for his fights. Wilder seemed very determined all throughout the press conference.

Helenius was motivated and determined as well, saying, “Fighting for the heavyweight title means everything to me and to my country.”

Wilder guaranteed the fans an electric performance between two of the best fighters and said, “We aren’t looking for draws.”

The two knockout artists have a remarkable combined 61 knockouts between them. They look to add to their legacies as they collide in the main event on October 15 in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Plant and Dirrell Rivalry

Plant holds a near-perfect (21-1-0) record. With 12 wins by knockout. Dirrell himself holds an impressive (34-2-2) record with 25 wins by way of knockout.

Leading into this press conference, it’s not a surprise Dirrell has made this rivalry with Plant very personal. Dirrell was ready to go in his press conference, as in his opening statement, he said, “Ready to fight, Ready to beat some a*s.”

Plant, on the other hand, says that “He has a lot to say about me; he says he erks me.” He would go on to say that there will be many fireworks come October 15 and that he plans to win in a convincing fashion.

When asked if his extensive experience in the ring would help him against Plant, Dirrell went on to say convincingly, “F**k experience I’m beating his a*s.”

Both coaches were vocal in saying that training camp has been going well for both fighters. Plant’s coach Stephen Edwards said he has a tireless work ethic and “Sweethands” is a very hard worker.

On the other hand, Dirrell’s coach Sugarhill Steward said, “They’re something extra to this fight for Anthony.” This has been personal for Dirrell, but Steward went on to say, “If this rivalry motivates them both to put out their best effort, it’s good for both of them.”

The bad blood between the 168-pound rivals will be settled as Plant and Dirrell will clash on October 15 in the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
