
Mississippi Valley State named football’s Jamison Lindsey and basketball’s Alvin Stredic the MVSU Student-Athletes of the Week. Both players represented the Delta Devils well and put up some career-first numbers.
Jamison Lindsey

Jamison Lindsey, a sophomore out of Gulfport, Mississippi, is a defensive back for the Delta Devils. Lindsey made a big impact in MVSU’s game against Alabama A&M as he helped the Delta Devils to their first win of the season. Lindsey 4 tackles on the night as well as a pair of pass breakups. His biggest impact came from his career first 2 interceptions that he returned for a total of 44 yards.
Lindsey played his high school ball at Gulfport High School. He played varsity football for three years in Gulfport, and in his senior year, he showed out. Lindsey’s high school career ended with 5 career interceptions and 88 total tackles. Lindsey has been with MVSU for his entire college career, and so far this year, Lindsey has recorded 25 total tackles, 2 interceptions and 5 pass breakups. Currently, Lindsey leads the MVSU defense pass breakups and interceptions.
MVSU now looks to take their second straight win against Southern this Saturday at 2:00 pm.
Alvin Stredic

Alvin Stredic, a junior out of Bay City, Texas, made his Delta Devil debut on Monday as MVSU basketball opened its season against Baylor in Waco, Texas. Stredic transferred to MVSU after playing for Arkansas-Pine Bluff for two seasons. For the Golden Lions, Stredic notched a career 54 points, 12 blocks and 77 rebounds. This was Stredic’s first game as a Delta Devil, and he made his presence known.
Stredic led the Delta Devils in scoring with 14 points on 6-of-9 shooting, a career-high for the Texas native. But Stredic showed off his skills away from the hoop as well. The junior forward had 2 assists, 5 rebounds and snagged a steal. Baylor defeated MVSU 117 – 53 in the first game of the season.
MVSU will head across the country to Honolulu, Hawaii to play in the Rainbow Classic. There the Delta Devils will take on Hawaii, Yale and Eastern Washington before heading back to Itta Bena, Mississippi for their home opener against North Alabama.
