Motor City has acquired veteran guard David Nwaba via trade. The Lakeland Magic had recently picked Nwaba up off waivers and would then trade him to the Cruise.
Background on Nwaba
Nwaba went undrafted in 2016 but has spent several stints in the NBA for six years. The veteran guard broke in with the Los Angeles D-Fenders, where he played 40 games, 31 of which included starts. That season he went on to average 14.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. During the same season, he played 20 games with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Nwaba has played in a total of 237 NBA Regular Season games and has started 50 of those. During that time, he averaged 6.8 points and 3.7 rebounds per game. The Cal Poly alum has also played for the Chicago Bulls, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Brooklyn Nets.
More on the Move
With the move, the Cruise will give the Lakeland Magic their 2023-24 second-round pick (via Sioux Falls) along with the player rights to Micah Potter, a second-year player out of the University of Wisconsin. With the moves the Cruise will waive Justin Turner, who signed with the team last week.
