
The Motor City Cruise made an early roster move on the season. The team announced today that they have acquired RJ Nembhard Jr. Terms of the contract have not been disclosed.
Background on Nembhard
Nembhard is a Keller, Texas native. He continued his college career close to home by playing at Texas Christian University. In his final season with the Horned Frogs, Nembhard was named an All-Big 12 Third Team performer. The All-Conference player would average 34.9 minutes per game on the season. Nembhard finished sixth in the Big-12 in scoring on the year, averaging 15.7 points per game.
Last Season
The Texas native went undrafted out of college but played for the Miami Heat during the 2021 Summer League. He signed with the Cleveland Cavaliers last September, in which he had his deal converted to a two-way contract with the Cleveland Charge of the NBA G-League. During last season, Nembhard averaged 21.9 points per game, 5.5 assists, and 8.2 rebounds. He would play in 25 games with the Charge and 14 games with the Cavaliers that season.
Other Moves
With his signing, the Cruise were forced to part ways with Tom Digbeu, who was drafted by the Cruise with the 28th pick in the first round of the 2022-23 NBA G League draft.
