On November 28th, live on Triller Pay-Per-View from Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, Mike Tyson 54, (50-6, 44KOs) will face off against Roy Jones Jr. 51, (66-9, 47KOs) in an eight-round showdown in the Legends Only League where it brings the best of the best back into the ring, onto the court, and back on the field.
Thursday, October 29 a press conference was held for the two legends where the respect was there, but so was the intensity. Both Mike and Roy made it clear that this isn’t a “fake fight” as both men have declared to bring their absolute best when they meet in the ring. Other boxing matches on the card include YouTuber Jake Paul vs. former NBA player Nate Robinson, Badou Jack vs. Blake McKernan, and Viddal Riley vs. Rashad Coulter.
’Iron Mike’ (Tyson) and ’Captain Hook’ (Jones) had the opportunity to face each other for the first time 15+ years ago, but the fight was unable to gain any traction. Tyson’s last time in the ring was June 2005, where he was defeated in the sixth round. Jones last time in the ring was February 2018 where he was victorious in a 10 round unanimous decision.
Even though they’re older there’s still plenty of fire left in the two legends. Our own Stephen Hayes asked Roy has he been training with the same intensity and determination as he did when in his prime. “Honestly, you would have to be a fool not to,” Jones said. “You’re going in the ring with one of the most dangerous men to ever grace the boxing ring.”
When Tyson was asked a similar question he responded and said, “My mindset is totally bliss. This is something I’ve done all my life since I was 13 years old,” Tyson said. “I’m more evolved now than I’ve ever been. My objective is to go in there with the best intentions of my life and to disable my opponent, and that’s just what it is.”
