Micah Parsons the 6’3”, 245 pound linebacker hailing from Penn State put on a show for NFL scouts at Pro Day. Notable coaches that were in attendance was Joe Judge of the New York Giants and Mike Tomlin of the Pittsburg Steelers. When asked what interested Tomlin the most about Parsons, he said “Everything. What’s not to like about him?”
What speaks to his caliber the most is that despite having opted out of the 2020 season, he still did the necessary preparation for pro day. Parsons said he has been training and not taking any days off. He also assured that once he gets down to OTA’s and minicamp he will be able to return to that player he once was and be ready to go once the season starts. However, today you could not tell the difference. He ran 4.39 in the 40-yard dash. The fastest ever 40 by any linebacker was Shaquem Griffin in 2018.
Parsons did not waste any time making it known that he should be a top 5 or top 10 draft pick. Penn State’s linebacker coach Brent Pry said there was not any doubt in his mind that if a team needed him to play at the defensive end that he would be able to live up to the task. Parsons had just as much confidence in himself.
“I just feel like I’m the most versatile player in this draft,” he said. “I can play middle linebacker, outside, and I can pass rush. I don’t think there’s a place that I can’t play.”
That translated to: Any team that drafts him is going to be able to use him as they see fit. Music to their ears.
