Lakers Make Statement in Game 1

The 2020 NBA Finals kicked off last night in Lake Buena Vista, Florida. The Miami Heat faced off against the Los Angeles Lakers in Game 1 of a best of seven series for the NBA championship. The Lakers started off sluggish, but proved to be too much for the Heat, winning with a final score of 116-98. Anthony Davis finished with 34 pts, 9 rebs, 5 asts, while Jimmy Butler had 23 pts, 5 asts, 2 rebs. Lebron James was one assist shy of a triple-double having 25 pts, 13 rebs, 9 asts.

The Heat came out strong going up by as many as 13 points in the 1st quarter. They quickly found themselves in the midst of a blowout being down 65-48 at halftime. They also suffered some significant injuries as Goran Dragic went down with a torn plantar fascia in the foot and Heat big man, Bam Adebayo went down with shoulder strain.

The Heat look to even the series in game 2 Friday, October 2nd at 9 pm on ABC.
