The Indiana Pacers hosted the Los Angeles Clippers on Tuesday night for an intense matchup. The Pacers were looking to pick up their 4th straight win but fell short. The Clippers have now swept the Pacers in the season series after previously beating the Pacers 129-96 earlier this season. The Clippers, who have now won 12 of their last 14 games, picked up their 6th straight win. The final score was 126-115.
Paul George scores big against his former team
Paul George, who went up against his former team on Tuesday night, played an outstanding game. George played for the Pacers for seven years, from 2010-2017. Being without star player Kawhi Leonard on Tuesday night forced George to step up and help lead the Clippers to a win. George was on fire from the three-point line for the Clippers. At the end of the first quarter, George had 15 points, while the rest of the team had 16 points. In the first half, George made a total of 23 points, shooting 7/13 from the field.
By the end of the third quarter, George’s stats had only increased. Throughout the game, George made clutch three-pointers, one being a 27-footer in the third quarter. Not long after that long-distance three, George slammed down a dunk on a drive to the basket. At the end of the third quarter, George had 32 points, shooting 11/19 from the field, 4/16 from the three-point line. George ended the night with 36 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists.
Pacers fall behind after halftime
The Pacers came out strong in the first half of Tuesday night’s matchup. They were able to outscore the Clippers in the first quarter by 3 points (34-31). T.J. McConnell hit a buzzer-beater at the end of the first quarter to put the Pacers up by 3 points. At the end of the second quarter, the Pacers were down by just 2 points (67-65). Despite being down at the end of the second quarter, the Pacers were sticking with the Clippers.
When the third quarter started, the Clippers took control of the game, and the Pacers started to fall behind. The score at the end of the third quarter was 100-97. The Pacers were unable to shut down the Clippers’ offense in the third quarter, which led to them trailing. After the third quarter, the Clippers’ offense exploded to take the lead further. Despite losing this matchup, Malcom Brogdon played an excellent game. Brogdon ended the night with 29 points, 4 assists, and 5 rebounds, shooting 12/18 from the field.
