Chiefs Take on the Bears In First Preseason Game

Date:

Chicago, IL. – Football fans around the country are excited for the start of this year’s football season. The Kansas City Chiefs’ schedule started with a trip to Chicago, taking on the Bears in their first pre-season battle.

How It’s Supposed to be

The Chiefs’ season started with a Patrick Mahomes touchdown drive.

“We did what we were supposed to do, that was our goal, to come out here and score touchdowns, and we did just that,” said Mahomes. “It was definitely a good day, and something we can build on”.

Mahomes went 6-for-7 for 60 yards and a touchdown in the one drive he was given.

More than Running Routes

Football is more than just going out and playing. For some superstars, there is also another aspect: mentoring.

“I love being there for these guys,” added Travis Kelce. “I think it comes with just being a good teammate.”

It is vital for veterans to be there for the rookies as they encounter growing pains in their first NFL games.

“Seeing those kinds of guys go out there and get their first taste of some real NFL football, see how excited they got, see their determination and how they get locked in before a game, you know it’s fun” Kelce said.

A New Look

With the loss of Tyreek Hill, the football begins to move around the field more. There is a new look around the offense for the Chiefs, as the receiving core has a wide range of diversity.

On the first drive, all six of Mahomes’ completions were by six different players.

“I think it’s going to be a lot like that this year” said Mahomes. “It’s going to come from the whole group, and I think the guys have embraced that and know that whenever their number does get called, they’re going to play”.
