Canelo Alvarez Enters Free Agency

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, the 30 year-old boxing super star has now become a free agent according to his trainer and manager, Eddy Reynoso. Reynoso dropped a press release yesterday declaring,

“In my role as a manager and coach of Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez, I allow myself to communicate to the boxing community and to all our fans, that starting today, November 6 th, ‘Canelo’ becomes a free agent, so we are ready to continue with his boxing career”, he says.

A lawsuit was filed on September 8th in California’s U.S. District Court over Alvarez suing Golden Boy and DAZN for breach of contract on the 10 fight, $365 million deal he signed in 2018. Golden Boy CEO, Oscar De La Hoya released a statement saying, “The lawsuit was resolved to everyone’s satisfaction, and we wish Canelo the best going forward. In strong partnership with DAZN, we will continue showcasing our wide array of talent, including rising superstars like Ryan Garcia, Jaime Munguia, and Virgil Ortiz Jr., all whom have the talent and potential to become the next biggest star in our sport”. Also according to ESPN Knockout’s Salvador Rodriguez, Canelo and his team are in negotiations with Caleb Plant for a super middleweight title fight on Dec. 19th .

Reynoso stated, “All this time we have been working very hard in the gym with a lot of responsibility and discipline, to be in great physical shape and ready to fight this year and it will be! We will announce date, rival, and place very soon…”.
