Celtics Beat the Suns in Final Game of the Season Series

Date:

The Boston Celtics finished their 3-game homestand with a win over the Phoenix Suns on Thursday night (99-86). The No.2 Suns beat the Celtics earlier in the season (100-91). With the Celtics being at home, they made sure to pick up the win. The Celtics have now won 5 of their last 6 games. Following the win against the Suns, the Celtics went 2-1 during their 3-game homestand. The Suns were held to their 2nd fewest points this season by the Celtics during this matchup.

Kemba Walker Ties Season High 32 Points

It is no secret that Celtics point guard Kemba Walker has been a star player for this Boston team this season. Walker, who has been a powerful player for the Celtics, especially in the past two months, helped lead the win. At the end of the second quarter, Walker already had 19 points and 3 assists. This was the 2nd most points in any half this season. Also, at the end of the second quarter, Walker had gone 7/8 from the field and 4/5 from the three-point line. Missing only one shot from the field and one from the three-point line, Walker was bound to come out on top.

Playing hard is how Walker got here, constantly charging and driving to the basket. By the end of the matchup, Walker had shot 11/17 from the field and 5/11 from the three-point line. Walker finished with 32 points, 4 rebounds, and 4 assists.

Devin Booker Fouls Out

Suns shooting guard Devin Booker had a tough game on Thursday night. Booker normally averages 25.3 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game. Early in this matchup, Booker got into foul trouble. Due to foul trouble, Bookers minutes were limited, playing a total of 26 minutes the entire game. This foul trouble eventually led to Booker fouling out of the game, a huge loss for the Suns. The six fouls Booker picked up consisted of 4 offensive, 1 defensive, and 1 technical. Booker finished with 15 points, 4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Despite Booker fouling out, Suns point guard Chris Paul played a fantastic game. Although the Celtics were able to shut down Booker, they were unable to shut down Paul.
