Yankees Lose Sixth Series in a Row

Date:

Bronx, NY – The Yankees’ slump continues as the Toronto Blue Jays took three of four games in Yankee Stadium, cementing their sixth consecutive series game loss. Here’s all the action:

High Scoring Win for Game One

An early inning surge sealed the victory for the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday for Game 1 against the Yankees.

Santiago Espinal got on base on a fielder’s choice, giving Teoscar Hernandez enough time to make it to home plate. Right after him, George Springer hit an RBI single to score Espinal. To cap off the inning, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. hit a three-run homer for a 5-0 score only in the top of the second.

The Yankees responded in the bottom of the third with DJ LeMahieu’s single scoring Jose Trevino. Although Aaron Judge got a forceout, it gave Estevan Florial enough time to score to tighten the gap to 5-2.

Even that was too much for the Blue Jays, when Alejandro Kirk hit his sixteenth RBI double of the season, scoring Springer in the top of the fifth.

To add insult to injury, when Kirk got out on a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh, Springer scored again. Afterwards, Hernandez doubled to center field to score Guerrero Jr. and Lourdes Gurriel.

The Yankees could not muster a response, and the ballgame ended with a 9-2 score. Frankie Montas was credited with the loss, and Jose Berrios got the win.

The Blue Jays gave the Yankees a shutout in their own home as they took the second game of four.

In the top of the third, Gurriel grounded out on the first pitch he saw to let Whit Merrifield score a run.

In the next inning, Kirk’s walk made ripples in the game. The next at-bat was none other than Hernandez, who hit a home run on the first pitch he saw to make it a 3-0 game.

To continue the damage, in the top of the ninth, Danny Jansen got out on a sacrifice fly to score Matt Chapman. Yankee fans were hoping to catch a break in later innings, but no such relief came, ending in a 4-0 game.

Jameson Taillon got the loss, and Kevin Gausman was credited with the win.

Yankees Loss Game 3, 6th Consecutive Series Loss

Although New York was first to score, a high-scoring fifth inning sealed the deal for the Blue Jays, handing the Yankees their sixth series loss in a row.

Estevan Florial singled to score Jose Trevino in the bottom of the second. That didn’t go unanswered for long.

In the top of the fifth, Jackie Bradley Jr. doubled to center to score Santiago Espinal and Danny Jansen to take a 2-1 lead. Alejandro Kirk hit an RBI double to center field for a 4-1 lead by scoring Bradley Jr. and Ramiel Tapia.

In response, Gleyber Torres hit a solo home run in the bottom of the eighth to cut into the deficit to make it a 4-2 game.

It simply was not enough, as Chapman sent one out of the ballpark at the top of the ninth, and the Yankees could not muster a response once again.

Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole got credited with the loss, while Adam Cimber and Yimi Garcia got the win and save, respectively.

Yankees Take One Back

After three back-to-back losses, the Yankees were eager to get a win for once. DJ LeMahieu hit an RBI single to score Anthony Rizzo in the bottom of the first.

It took all the way until the top of the third for Whit Merrifield to hit a solo homer to make it a tie game.

LeMahieu was ready to go 2-for-2, and he did in the bottom of the third, singling again to score Benintendi.

Toronto evened out the score when the bases were loaded and Bradley Jr. was walked, forcing in Matt Chapman to make it a tie game again.

Benintendi took it into his own hands to break the tie, hitting his first home run as a Yankee, scoring Jose Trevino after the seventh inning stretch for a final score of 4-2.

Although Nestor Cortes pitched 6.0 innings for the Yankees, Lou Trevino got the win and Adam Cimber was credited with the loss.
