The 2-Seeded Baylor Bears crushed the 15-Seed Jackson State Lady Tigers 101-52 on Sunday in the first round of the NCAA Women’s basketball tournament.
The Bears were led on the stat sheet by Guard Moon Ursin, who put up 24 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 2 blocks in the Bears’ triple-digit victory.
Five different Baylor players scored 10 or more points, including NaLyssa Smith, who had a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds.
Triple-digits
Sunday’s win was the third time Kim Mulley’s Bears had scored triple-digits this season. The Riverwalk Region 2-Seed put up 136 points against Northwestern State in December and proceeded to beat McNeese State by a whopping 93 points in a 117-24 rout the following day.
The Bears shot 49.4% from the field against JSU, with a 40% three-point percentage. Baylor also took advantage of opposing foul trouble. Jackson State’s 19 fouls would allow the Bears to shoot 70% from the charity stripe.
Lady Tigers shooting struggles
The Southwestern Athletic Conference Champion Lady Tigers struggled to compete offensively on Sunday, shooting 31% from the field and making a mere 2 of 19 attempts from beyond the arc.
Jackson State would also turn the ball over 20 times, 15 of those came from the Lady Tiger starting five.
