No. 7 Baylor Defeats Kansas State in a Blowout Win at Home 85-49

Date:

The Baylor Bears owned their home court Saturday afternoon as they welcomed the visiting rivals from Kansas State University. Baylor did not need much effort to get going, both offense and defense contributing immensely to the score. By the end, Baylor was up almost 40 points, their 5th biggest lead this season.

From the get-go, Baylor was top-notch. They did not give up the lead once the entire game, dribbling around Kansas State and shooting baskets with ease. On the other hand, Kansas State struggled a lot, their strongest players falling weak against Baylor’s. In fact, Kansas States’ leading scorer of the match never even broke double-digits, only coming in at 9 points.

Meanwhile, Baylor’s top leader Queen Egbo earned 19. Along with that, Egbo made 7 out of 9 field goals and went 5 for 5 on free throws.

At the start of the game, Baylor kicked off things with a bang, posting over 10 points in the first 4 minutes of the game.

Heading into the second quarter, Kansas State was in the lead by 11 points, comfortable with their standing. From there, Kansas States nightmare only got worse, and Baylor only got stronger. Baylor posted 18 points, while Kansas State put 10 more on the board. There was a 21 point gap by halftime, and Kansas State walked off the court hanging their heads, obviously disappointed with their performance so far.

Coming back from half, Baylor kept their momentum up, determined to keep the gap in the score as wide as possible for their lead. They increased the lead to over 30 points in the middle of the third quarter, and it increased more as the game rolled over into the fourth quarter.

Kansas State was heading into the last part of the game with only 37 points to show for their efforts. Although they gained another 12 in the fourth, Baylor could not be stopped. Their offense was unmatchable, racking up blocks and forcing Kansas State to give up multiple turnovers, giving themselves the chance to secure the win for good.

Baylor now sits at 19-2 overall for their record and is on an 11 game winning streak. They are 1st in their conference, 14-1 when it comes to conference games. Meanwhile, Kansas State is last in their conference, 7-15 overall and 2-13 in the Big 12. Unfortunately for Kansas State, since having just won their previous game against Texas Tech, they are back on a losing path, but will hope to recover soon.
