Charleston, WV – With the return of Penelope Ford, two championship matches and the next match in the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament, Rampage was sure to be a big night.
Swerve In Our Glory (C) vs. Private Party – AEW World Tag Team Championship Match
Beginning the match, it’s Kassidy and Lee. Lee Biel throws Kassidy, but he lands on his feet before being hit with a huge chop. While Kassidy is down, Strickland enters the match with a diving European elbow. However, Kassidy counters with a back elbow of his own.
When Strickland goes for a suplex, Quen attempts a crossbody, but Kassidy lands a hurricanrana. Private Party looks to keep their momentum going with the Gin N Juice, but Quen is hit with a Swerve Stomp mid-air instead. Strickland takes this time to tag Lee back in.
Private Party takes hit after hit by Lee, especially Quen, with Lee’s pounce making him bounce off the ropes and back. With Strickland back in the match, he Swerve Kicks Quen’s head before hitting him with the JML Driver to finally gain the three count, continuing Swerve In Our Glory’s Tag Title reign.
Hook (C) vs. Zack Clayton – FTW Championship Match
Continuing Hook’s trend in his singles matches, he successfully defends the FTW Championship in under 5 minutes when Clayton swings and misses and Hook locks in the Redrum.
Buddy Matthews vs. Serpentico
After Hook’s quick title defense, this match is added to the card. Matthews comes in hot with a shotgun dropkick, making Serpentico roll outside. Giving Serpentico no time to rest, Matthews “almost decapitates” him with a punt from the apron.
Back in the ring, Serpentico goes to the top rope for a hurricanrana. However, Matthews catches him for a buckle bomb. With a pop-up knee strike and Murphy’s law, Matthews defeats Serpentico.
The fight doesn’t end there for Matthews as Miro runs out to the ring with Malakai Black’s mask to take him out.
Penelope Ford vs. Athena
Ford’s return to the ring started strong as she had an answer for everything Athena threw at her. Athena tries to change the match after catching Ford in her handspring back elbow, but Ford goes for a cazadora leaving Athena over the middle rope, perfectly positioned for a dropkick.
When Athena goes for a clothesline, Ford avoids it with a bridge and comes back at Athena with a stunner. However, all the control Ford had in the match isn’t enough for her to kick out of the pin after Athena hits her with The O-Face.
Best Friends and Orange Cassidy vs. Trustbusters – AEW World Trios Championship Tournament Quarterfinal
Taylor hits Davari with Soul Food and throws Slim J into a sit-out powerbomb by Beretta. Boudreaux quickly takes the Best Friends out as Taylor is flung into the guardrail and Beretta lands in the front row.
Back in the ring, Slim J hits Beretta with an enziguiri and a facebuster to the knee before Davari is back in action with a chin lock on Beretta.
Cassidy comes into the match kicking Slim J while he’s down. Cassidy then has to deal with Davari with a tilt-a-whirl DDT. Next, Cassidy faces Boudreaux, who hits him with a body block before double clotheslining the Best Friends. The Best Friends fight back with a dropkick and lariats.
After Slim J works Cassidy down, Davari tags in for a frog splash on Cassidy for a two count. The Best Friends go after Boudreaux, and with an Orange Punch, sending him into the crowd. When Cassidy goes to the top rope, Sonny Kiss throws him off, giving Slim J time to enter the match again.
With a curse from Danhausen and a triple team ending in Orange Cassidy landing a splash on Slim J, the Best Friends and Orange Cassidy move on to the next round of the AEW World Trios Championship Tournament.
The Trios Championship Tournament’s action doesn’t stop there as Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite pits Death Triangle against Will Osprey and Aussie Open.
