SAVANNAH, GA – Fyter Fest Night 1 promised hard-hitting matches and multiple championships on the line. To round out tonight’s card, the main event Triple or Nothing Tag Team Championship Match has the Young Bucks defending their titles.
Wardlow (C) vs. Orange Cassidy – TNT Championship Match
Wardlow found himself again as one man against many, thanks to the Best Friends and Danhausen. The Best Friends gifted Cassidy a chainsaw. Danhausen threatened to curse Wardlow as a distraction for Cassidy to land an Orange Punch outside the ring. Nothing phased Wardlow.
After catching Cassidy in his attempted diving DDT, Cassidy hit a Stun Dog, DDT, and Beach Break back-to-back resulting in a near fall. However, when he went for the Orange Punch to finish the job, Wardlow caught him in a Powerbomb and retained his championship.
Jon Moxley (C) vs. Konosuke Takeshita – Interim AEW World Championship Match
Takeshita showed he could handle himself in the ring against Moxley as he bled with the Blackpool Combat Club member in a back-and-forth match. The two traded chops and countered each other flawlessly. At one point, Takeshita countered Moxley with a brain buster and nearly won the championship.
In the end, Moxley broke Takeshita down with a Death Ride and elbows until he finally applied the Bulldog Choke, resulting in Takeshita tapping out.
Luchasaurus vs. Griff Garrison
In a quick match reinforcing Christian Cage’s power over Luchasaurus, he defeated Garrison. Luchasaurus hit a German Suplex, causing Garrison to roll out of the ring, where Luchasaurus attacked Garrison until he was satisfied and threw him back in. After two choke slams and the Tar Pit hold, Garrison tapped out.
Claudio Castagnoli vs. Jake Hager
Representing the Blackpool Combat Club and the Jericho Appreciation Society, these men are no stranger to fighting hard, and this match was no different.
Castagnoli had control early in the match, and Hager ate every hit. After uppercuts and a 619, Castagnoli had Hager in the ring in a sharpshooter, nearly winning by submission until Angelo Parker and Matt Menard saved Hager.
Hager gave one last big fight to Castagnoli before being caught in a Ricola Bomb and pinned, giving Castagnoli the victory.
Anna Jay vs. Serena Deeb
Jay had an uphill battle in this fight against Deeb. Anything Jay did could not stop Deeb from controlling the ring. Jay had the opportunity to pick up the win when she locked Deeb in the Queenslayer sleeper, but Deeb kept fighting and escaped the hold. With Jay in the Serenity Lock, Deeb secured a submission win.
Young Bucks (C) vs. Ricky Starks and Powerhouse Hobbs vs. Swerve In Our Glory – Tag Team Championship Match
These teams left everything in the ring after a nonstop, action-packed match filled with many near falls.
Hobbs and Lee faced off, earning “fight forever” chants from the crowd. What was a nearly-even match at first wasn’t once Hobbs landed a frog splash, resulting in a near fall.
Matt Jackson brings the title belt into the match so the Bucks can use it against everyone else. With Strickland pinned, Starks breaks it up, keeping the match going. Strickland hit Starks with the Swerve Stomp, pinning him. Hobbs broke the pin and landed a spinebuster on the Bucks and Swerve in Our Glory.
With Starks in the match, there’s a series of quick attempts at pins and each team breaking up pins. Lee did a front flip outside the ring, landing on the Bucks and Hobbs, stopping further interference. Strickland headed for the top rope, landing a stomp on Starks and winning the Tag Team Championships for Swerve In Our Glory.
Fyter Fest continues Friday on Rampage in Savannah, Georgia, at 10 pm EST on TNT.
